چکیده
In our previous reports1) on an experiment in feeding adult volunteers with Escherichia coli O-111 B4 by means of the Miller Abbott double lumen tube, it was indicated that whether or not Escherichia coli O-111 B4 produces similar illness to acute bacterial food poisoning may depend upon the multiplication of these organisms in the small intestine of volunteers who have ingested certain amounts of the organisms. The studies to be reported in this paper start from the following assumption: The volunteers may not develop symptoms, even though the Escherichia coli O-111 B4 organisms are found in fecal specimens in large proportion over a

Antibiotic Resistance Patterns in Enteric and Uropathogenic Strains of Escherichia Coli in Children
Abstract Background and Objective: Escherichia coli is the most common cause of urinary tract infections in children and the leading cause of intra-abdominal infections (peritonitis and abscess) followed intestinal injuries. Urinary tract infection, including cystitis and pyelonephritis, is a common childhood infection. E. coli causes more than 90 percent of the community acquired and 50% of ho...
متن کاملMedia for the isolation and differentiation of pathogenic Esch. coli (serotypes O 111 and O 55).
The connexion between Escherichia coli and intestinal disease was observed for the first time by Adam (1923), who described the types of Bact. coli found in toxic intestinal diseases of infants. Later he named these bacteria " dyspepsiecoli " (Adam, 1927) and divided them into six groups, A1-A6, according to their fermentative properties in relation to various sugars and alcohols. According to ...
متن کاملExtra intestinal pathogenic Escherichia coli from human and avian origin: Detection of the most common virulence-encoding genes
Pathogenic Escherichia coli strains cause a wide range of extra intestinal infections including urinary tract infection in humans and colibacillosis in poultry. They are classified into uropathogenic E. coli (UPEC) and avian pathogenic E. coli (APEC) with genetic similarities and variations. Their pathogenicity is related to the virulence-encoding genes like sfa</...
متن کاملResistance to Aminoglycoside Antibiotics in Escherichia coli Isolated from Urinary Tract Infection in Iran in 2000-2012: A Systematic Review
Background and Objectives: Resistance to aminoglycosides has become a major problem in the treatment of urinary tract infection due to the extensive use of this antibiotic group. Due to the increased resistance of Escherichia coli to aminoglycosides, this study systematically evaluated the resistance to aminoglycosides by Escherichia coli isolated from urinary tract infection (UTI) in Ira...
متن کاملA comparative study of the prevalence of extended-spectrum β-lactamaseproducing Escherichia coli among urinary and fecal Escherichia coli isolates of women with urinary tract infection in Kerman city
Background & Aim: Important challenge for treatment of urinary tract infections is the spread of extended-spectrum beta-lactamases (ESBLs) producing Escherichia coli. Therefore, the frequencies of main beta-lactamase genes, resistance to beta-lactams and the ability of ESBLs production in urinary and fecal Escherichia coli of women with urinary tract infections were compared. Methods: In 60 Es...
